The Studhorse House was built for a family that loves adventures. The beautifully designed contemporary home by the Seattle based architecture firm Olson Kundig, is perfectly nestled in the hills of Winthrop, Washington State. The indoor/ outdoor house design is composed of four buildings, centered on a central courtyard and pool. “It’s like a little campground, and you go tent to tent. The materials are tough on the outside, because of the high-desert climate, but the inside is cozy, like getting into a sleeping bag—protected, warm, and dry,” says the architect. You can find salvaged wood from an old barn used throughout the home connecting the buildings. The Studhorse house offers amazing views of the surrounding mountain landscape including the Studhorse Ridge the pool looks out over that the house is named after.
