The American Hennessey Venom GT has taken the title of the world’s fastest production car. The Venom hit a top speed of 270.49 mph edging out the ever famous Bugatti Veyron’s record of 269.86 mph set in 2010. Hennessey has claimed the Venom GT was the fastest for a while, but it wasn’t until they went to Kennedy Space Center, on the 3.2-mile Space Shuttle landing runway in Florida, that it was able to be verified by Guinness World Records. Brian Smith was the driver and was quoted later, stating “It was still pulling, if we could run on an eight mile oval, we could go faster than that.” Check out the record breaking run in the video below.
