Do you enjoy the great outdoors but hate having to carry around an axe, machete, knife, and shovel? Are you someone who lives in an area with a fair amount of snowfall? Or are you still looking for the perfect doomsday survival tool? If your answer was yes to any of those questions, then look no further. The Special Forces Shovel by Cold Steel is modeled after the the Soviet Spetsnaz E-tool. The Spetsnaz soldiers were the elite group of the Soviet Army; equivalent to the United State’s Green Berets. This lightweight and versatile tool is made of heat treated carbon steel which gives it the strength to do almost anything. Not only is the Special Forces Shovel great for digging, and chopping wood but it also has the ability to be a weapon. With its nimble frame and solid construction the shovel can be used as a throwing tomahawk at pieces of wood, or even large blocks of ice. Measuring at just over twenty inches this shovel can be stowed away in vehicles for snow removal or the removal of roadblocking debris, fit into a backpack for wilderness expeditions, or carried on one’s waist with the additional cordura sheath. I personally keep one in my Jeep not only for winter driving, but also as a bug-out weapon. The blade comes excessively sharpened from the factory and does not require additional sharping before first use. It is able to cut through bone and human flesh as shown in the video making it ideal for that last ditch weapon. As it being made of carbon steel it requires oiling to prevent rust. This shovel will last as long as it is properly maintained. With its almost seemingly limitless possibilities the shovel’s $37 dollar price tag is worth it.
